Stabilized Woolly Mammoth Tooth Block for Knifemaking – Spacer Size
This unique stabilized mammoth tooth block is suitable for knife handle spacers, inlays, and small custom knife projects.
The block is made from genuine woolly mammoth tooth material sourced in Yakutsk, Siberia and professionally stabilized to improve durability and machinability.
Unlike standard handle blocks, this piece is spacer size — commonly used by knifemakers for decorative spacers between handle materials or for smaller custom knife handles.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind fossil material with natural prehistoric patterns formed thousands of years ago.
Stabilization
The material is stabilized using vacuum-pressure cycles with Cactus Juice stabilizing resin and then cast with Alumilite resin, which significantly increases strength and reduces cracking during machining.
Material properties
Mammoth tooth is a very dense fossil material, comparable in hardness to stone.
For cutting and shaping it is recommended to use:
bandsaw with stone cutting blade
diamond disk for stone / glass / tile
metal hand saw (possible but slow)
